The DJI RoboMaster S1 doesn't feel overpriced. It's an incredibly well-designed, super-premium device that's super fun to play with and can be programmed to do quite a bit more. That said, $549 (MSRP) is a huge amount of money to spend on what's essentially a super-advanced remote-controlled car.

My 10 year old daughter plays with it. It's an expensive toy for a 10-year old, but ok if you can get them started with STEM. I also bought the remote/pad (~$80) and that makes navigation a bit easier (moving a joystick is better than rubbing fingers on the iPad's screen). ALl in all, great fun, even as an RC toy, before the programming starts.
These robots were purchased by community college for use in our computer science and engineering program, I’m not sure if they are appropriate for use by a 10-year-old
I bought this for my 10-year-old son few months ago. His best friend of the same age also got this from his parents almost the same time. Both of them enjoy playing this very much.
It's okay for them as long as you keep them under supervision.

What is the distance on it
It depends on your wifi network. Needs a good wifi signal

What is this for?
It's a high tech toy. It has to be assembled which requires some minor mechanical skills. It can be programmed to do some route following or obstacle avoidance. Aside from play it is often used to teach programming and robotics concepts.

The power supply voltage?
Doesn't matter. The charger is rated for 110-240 v.

Does this work via bluetooth? or does it require a wifi network?

What's in the box?
Everything you need to assemble the robot tank its not put together you have to assemble the tank yourself which will take approximately four hours comes with instructions on how to put it together

Any external tool kit required for installation or does the box comes with everything needed for self installation ?
It can be 100% assembled with what’s in the box. I have two. The first one took me about 2 hours by myself to completely assemble, download and configure the app, and calibrate. The second one about a third of the time and I used a low torque electric screwdriver with torque my own torx bits. But it’s not necessary. One tip is to get the battery out and charge it before assembly as it takes a few hours and will be ready when you’re done.

Is it for indoor use only?
It will work outside on hard surfaces, but it needs a WiFi signal either via your router or ad hoc direct to your phone. This limits how far away you can get from it.

Hi, is it possible to remote connect robomaster-s1 and use as a home patrol?
There would be some significant obstacles. 1. It's powered by a battery and startup is only available by pushing a button on the unit. 2. No means of automatically charging or docking to a charger. 3. Wifi connectivity and control requires operator intervention 4. Programmed code to do this doesn't exist and would require proprietary access to the units controllers

Can I get a replacement screwdriver?
Nothing special about the screwdriver that came with the unit. You can get something similar (albeit not exact) from your local home-depot, Ask for a hex screwdriver. Now, the slightly tricky part is that hex dimensions can be either metric or imperial. It'll be good to review the DJI documentation to get the exact dimension of the screwdriver and then go buy one. Better yet, you can ask in the DJI forum, full of people there always willing to help.

Battery life?
It depends heavily on how fast you go. Full power racing around will expend the battery in about 20 minutes, but a slower pace (like running a slow-moving program) will significantly extend the runtime.
